What is SafeSearch (SafeSearch.net redirect virus, SafeSearch toolbar, SafeSearch browser hijacker, SafeSearch virus, SafeSearch malware)?

Is there anyway to remove this thing permanently from FIrefox? I went through regedit and add remove programs as well as addons. No luck.

i want my default search engine to be Google. when i type something into the address bar and press enter, i want it to direct me to Google.com instead it directs me to http://www.safesearch.net/…….ive already tried changing it, but i cant click on anything other engine and there’s no make default button, as the help site suggests. Google.com is in the list, i just cant change it to google. also, on the settings page, Safe search is greyed out and i cant click on the drop down menu to change it. so what do i need to do to change it?
